2017 Youth Theme

This last week I had the opportunity to teach seminary for the Freshman and Sophomores for some of the teens in my stake.  I don't think I've spent that much time each day in the scriptures (specifically the New Testament) in a week's time ~ even when I took New Testament in college. It impressed me to see those kids committed to the gospel that they were willing to get up a few hours earlier than required and how much they truly knew about the New Testament.  Grady has said many times, there is only one group of people in the church that attend church 6 days a week, the youth.  We could learn a lot from their example of sacrifices to give at least one hour of their day to the Lord.  Are we that committed?  I felt like seminary was a good start to my day, and hopefully it was for them as well!

While reflecting on this last week with our youth, I think I'm finally inspired in making a poster for 2017's youth theme.  So.... here is:

2017 Youth Theme

This will print at Costco in a 20x30 poster board for around $25.00.  Our ward recites the theme for mutual each week and it's been helpful having a large poster as a "cheat"!

I also turned it into a handout:

2017 Youth Theme Handout

I love that this specific scripture was chosen as this was the very scripture that inspired Joseph Smith at 14 to kneel in a grove of trees and ask God what church he should join.  God didn't just speak to him, a teenager, but he knew him.  By name.  This single occurrence tells us more about God's relationship with man than any other.  He knows us, He loves us and He speaks to us.

Considering the trials and temptations our youth of today will face, what better scripture to chose and help them know that if we Ask of God and Ask in Faith, there are answers.  I hope this message will be throughout the year a reminder of their importance in the world, and their importance to our Heavenly Father.

Beautiful Inside & Out

We had our New Beginnings this month!  I'm sharing our theme idea for all of my Young Women leader friends!  Everyone in this calling knows how much work it is to come up with a fun/creative/new/exciting theme... it's overwhelming!  Mid an hour-long text sesh amongst the presidency I saw an "Inside Out" kids' birthday party idea on Pinterest.  The more we discussed, we knew our theme would be "Beautiful Inside & Out" and talk about how Personal Progress makes you beautiful.

Below are some images of the night.  Please know that Disney images are copyrighted... realized that the hard way when i went to print!  Whoops!
We had a batch of Bing Bong Popcorn with animal cookies white chocolate & sprinkles.

Our Bulletin Board & food.  We did cupcakes with characters printed on the cupcake toppers.  We had cotton candy for Bing Bong and we found these cute "Inside Out" flavored water bottles I believe at Sam's Club.

These were our cupcakes and a close up of the cute table cloth our 1st counselor made from a few different "Inside Out" fabrics she found.
Our bishop had a great talk about how everyone has different beauty and used Mr. Potato Head figures to show that we can make them similar, but they will all be a little different.  It was awesome!

There was also a great video from Sister Elaine Dalton called "Deep Beauty" that went perfect with our theme (wish I would've been able to get it to play.....) as well as old school JKP (Janice Kapp Perry) "His Image in Your Countenance" as our musical number.

HERE is a sample of our invitation.

HERE is a blank invite that you can add in your own date/time etc.

Enjoy.

2016 Youth Theme

Wow...... i haven't posted in over 2 years.  Shows how committed i am to this blog.  LOL.

During opening exercises we recite the youth theme every week (with the assistance of our poster).  I made this for 2016.  I am not claiming to be a professional, just like to dabble.  I've had a few people ask for a copy ~ here it is!

Click HERE for the 20x30" file.  I printed mine at Costco on the 20x30" paper for $10.00 and did a quick spray adhesive to the back and attached to foam board.  Found the foam board at Walmart for like $4 for two 20x30" boards.  Well worth it.  You can also just send it in and they will print it to foam board for like $25.00.  Save a little time, but more costly.

ENJOY!
